DESCRIPTION:This week join the Point West Rotary for our weekly meeting at the North Ridge Country Country club. \noining us again as a speaker will be Col. (Ret) John McKay. Colonel McKay enlisted in the Marine Corps in January 1962. He was part of the designated landing force for the envisioned invasion of Cuba in the Fall of 1962. He was appointed from the ranks to the U. S. Naval Academy in 1964. He served two tours in Vietnam. Retired\, Col McKay was involved with the CIA in Palestine\, and South America. Civil sector employment entailed positions in West Africa and Jerusalem. He was with the DEA as a special assistant to the Director of Intelligence\, concentrating on Mexican drug cartels. Until the pandemic\, Col McKay was an Adjunct Professor at California State University\, Sacramento. He is currently involved in bringing to justice alleged perpetrators of war crimes committed during the El Salvadorian civil war. \nThe fun starts at 7am with Breakfast and time to meet with all the PWR Rotarians and the meeting starting at 7:30am.

Who will lay claim to the “Best Bowler” title of Point West Rotary Club. \nThe Point West Rotary Bowling Bash committee are inviting you to participate in the upcoming PWR Bowling Bash Tournament. This will consist of bowling two games\, free shoe rental & all you can eat pizza & soft drinks. \nThe date is Saturday\, April 12 and will be at Country Club Lanes @ 2600 Watt Ave\, Sacramento. We have the lanes reserved from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM\, so get there early to get your shoes & get set up on your lane. Start time is 6:00 PM. \nTthe cost to each bowler is $40 for adults and kids under the age of 10 are only $10 each! $10 for those who are just eating pizza & watching. Also\, this year we’re planning on awards for the Best Bowler (male & female)\, Best Bowler under the age of 15 & of course the bowler with the lowest combined score of two games (aka Gutter Ball Winner). \nWe will be doing sign-ups during the upcoming Friday meetings\, but you can RSVP (if you’re coming & how many) back to me as well. \nBring your spouse\, partner\, kids\, grandkids\, neighbors\, friends\, cats & dogs. DESCRIPTION:The California Brewers Festival has grown to be the capstone event of the season for beer enthusiasts in Northern California. Recognized as the first of its kind in craft beer festivals\, the event unites thousands of craft beer and food lovers for an unforgettable experience. \nHosted by the Rotary Club of Point West – Sacramento\, and the Point West Rotary Club Foundation\, the festival has raised nearly $1.75 million for local youth charities since its inception. \nThis year Brewfest will be held on Saturday September 13th at Discovery Park and is the Club’s largest one-day event\, with as many as 85 brewers and several food vendors participating. Regional talent provides entertainment. \nProceeds of the event support children’s charities in the community including valuable funds for CalPAL and Runnin’ for Rhett along with other local children’s charities we support through Point West Rotary. This event brings volunteers from the community and the club. Planning starts months before the event. Opportunities to get involved are numerous.
